Saroja Yeramilli founded the fashion-inspired jewellery and e-commerce brand Melorra in 2015. She recognised the gap in the jewellery market in regular wearable fashion jewellery and set out on the path to bridging the gap.

Saroja had over 20 years of diverse experience in consumer goods sales and marketing, retailing, and advertising before founding Melorra. She was part of the core team of Tanishq, which scripted the transformation of brand Tanishq's retailing.

For Saroja, being an entrepreneur meant learning and unlearning a lot of embedded concepts. She says, “The corporate world does not encourage risk-taking and does not reward failure. But in start-ups, if you're not failing, you're not innovating. We even celebrate failures here. A corporate company has a long-term business plan, but in a start-up, you need to be flexible and agile, so that you don't miss out on growth opportunities."

The tradition of jewellery wearing in India is as such, people wear it on special occasions like weddings, special festivals, or family events, otherwise, jewellery is kept in lockers. Saroja wanted to break this traditional habit. At Melorra designs are contemporary and influenced by international trends. Which consumers can wear not only on special occasions but also on normal parties and occasions like pool parties, office outings, school functions or theme-based parties.

Melorra is designed for casual occasions, work, and parties with light, contemporary jewellery that can be worn daily. Military, bohemian, floral, checks and stripes are some examples of fashion trends.

India's leading and technologically advanced jewellery manufacturers have partnered with Melorra to use 3D printing to provide precise and elegant finishes to our products. At Melorra, their global trend-spotters look at styles that will fit today's fashion scene on global runways like Paris and Milan.

Melorra has received its largest seed funding in India of US$5 million from Lightbox Ventures and a Series D round of funding of US$14 million through Crunchbase.
